Estimating 201, our Electrical Estimating Apprenticeship program, is a comprehensive course designed to introduce and acclimate the beginner estimator to the electrical estimating field. It’s called an apprenticeship because each student will be learning “the trade” of electrical estimating. We start you with “the basics” then add more theory and assignments so you can practice what you have learned. This is a self-paced online program! Learn when you want, how you want, any time you want, day or night! You have 6 months of access to the course materials, including the use of a virtual “student computer” via remote access so you can use any of the industry leader software programs. Depending on your tuition plan, student-instructor “one on one” training is also available. There are also weekly live “office hours” where students can ask questions about the course curriculum or about estimating in general.
Estimating theory, the estimator’s role, types of bids, the estimating process, specification review and interpretation, takeoffs, bid solicitation, and vendor relations, and the NEC will all be discussed. Each student will perform several different types of estimates and prepare proposals for each. Students will also be required to complete current projects during class.
