Business consulting is any help needed outside of direct estimating or training, but related to it.

For example, business consulting could be us helping a client set up their estimating department including staff and software selection and also setting up procedures and processes.

Another example. Business consulting can also be walking a client through putting a bid together. In other walking them through all the steps on bid day from putting in all the quotes on the bid recap sheet, adding their labor rate, adding direct job expenses, plus any other costs like overhead and profit to comp up with their bid price. This is not an intuitive process and customers need coaching on this!

Another example. Legal assistance with expert claims work and expert testimony. The construction trade is fraught with legal entanglements and sometimes electrical experts are required for specialized portions of mediation and litigation. Candels can help with peer review, and more.
